Alison is a Registered Psychologist living in Brisbane, Qld. She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology, Graduate Diploma of Rehabilitation Counselling, Graduate Diploma of Psychological Studies, Bachelor of Science (Honours), and Bachelor of Arts (Honours). She is currently studying a Master of Disability Policy and Practice, which she will complete in mid 2024. Alison is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists Incorporated (AAPI).

Prior to embarking on a career in psychology, Alison worked in welfare and project roles within the community and not-for-profit sectors, predominantly supporting veterans and their families. She also spent several years as a volunteer telephone counsellor with Lifeline. Her early studies in English Communications and her love of the Arts also led to her writing reviews for a local performing arts magazine, ghost-writing advice columns for a national magazine, and turning media releases into advertorials for a newspaper.

As a psychologist, Alison has gained experience working with a wide range of clients, within university, aged-care, and community child and youth mental health settings. Alison’s professional and personal experiences have led her to develop a deep interest in neurodivergence, and she is passionate about supporting individuals from an affirming, strengths-based perspective. Alison values each client as a unique individual and adopts a warm, collaborative approach, drawing on therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).

Outside of work, Alison loves spending time with family and friends, including her husband, young adult daughter and tween son, especially when coffee and vegetarian food are involved. She has a passion for live theatre, particularly musicals, and loves listening to musical soundtracks and artists. Alison can also be found curled up with a good book, listening to an audiobook or podcast, trying to solve online puzzles (such as Wordle and Connections), or honing her special talent of falling asleep while watching her favourite television programs.
